All in the Family
Raised with the firm belief that teaching and academics were critical to success, ex-NFL football player Ken Geddes earned his master’s degree by attending CityU at night, on weekends, and during the summer. Today, not only has he secured a position he’s passionate about, his two children are also following in his footsteps and pursing advanced degrees at CityU. To read more, click here.

From CityU’s Alumni Director

I think the flaming reds and golds of autumn inspire me most. Combine that with the musty odors of fallen leaves and a candied apple treat, and I’m instantly transported back to my childhood. While the fall season can mean a time of decay, I like to interpret this time of year as one of harvest. This season reminds me to consider what efforts I’ve been investing in and to take a close look at the results. Have I achieved what I set out to do?  What is the yield of this growing season for me, both personally and professionally?  What do I need to add to the soil to achieve my goals?

I’m pleased that we now have over 3,000 alumni registered with CityU of Seattle’s online community—a result of constant outreach and teamwork.  However, I think of the potential “yield” and wonder what else the Alumni Office can do to help bring our alumni around the world together, at least virtually.  It’s a tall order, but a world of CityU alumni who take advantage of the opportunities that exist when people reach beyond borders to learn remains my vision.  I challenge you to take advantage of the various benefits we offer and to help us make these benefits work for you. We can’t be all things to all people, but we will remain focused on helping you make the most of your CityU degree.

While you labor in the cultivation of your “crops” – be they personal, educational, or professional – may you truly celebrate your harvest.  Happy autumn!

All the best,

Eileen Ryan-Rojas
Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving
