The Master in Teaching (M.I.T.) degree at City University of Seattle
provides career transition into the field of education for those
who already hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited
college or university but lack teacher certification.
CitU of Seattle provides a program that focuses on both field participation
and academics. Course work is combined with classroom teaching
in a comprehensive program. Upon successful completion of the program,
students will have satisfied requirements for a M.I.T. degree and
a Washington State Residency Teaching Certificate with a primary
endorsement for elementary education (K-8) or Special Education
K-12.
There are two delivery formats available; a one-year, full-time
intensive program for candidates not currently employed
in public schools (elementary (K-8) endorsement only), and a specialized
two-year program for working adults seeking teacher certification
(elementary education (K-8) or special education K-12 endorsement).
The program is a blend of classroom instruction and field-based
experiences better preparing graduates for employment as teaching
professionals.
